SUMMARY:Virtual Tai Chi
DESCRIPTION:Members & guests- free! RSVP below to register. This program will be held virtually via Zoom. \nTai Chi is a healing martial art characterized by slow\, flowing movements that emphasize balance\, flexibility\, and coordination. It involves a series of gentle\, continuous movements that engage the entire body\, promoting strength and stability while calming the mind. Tai Chi is often described as “meditation in motion” due to its emphasis on mindful movement and breath. Benefits of Tai Chi: \n1. Strength and Flexibility: Builds muscle strength\, increases flexibility\, and enhances\nmobility through slow\, deliberate movements. \n2. Balance and Coordination: Improves body coordination and balance\, reducing the risk of\nfalls. \n3. Stress Relief: Calms the mind and relieves stress by focusing on controlled\, meditative\nmovements. \n4. Mind-Body Connection: Strengthens awareness of the body and its movements\,\npromoting mindfulness. \n5. Mood and Energy Boost: Releases tension\, elevates mood\, and increases energy flow. \n6. Joint Health and Circulation: Enhances circulation and supports healthy joints\, easing\nstiffness and discomfort. \nQigong techniques in the Body & Brain class help amplify these benefits by focusing on energy flow (Qi)\, fostering both physical and mental well-being. \nAbout the Instructor: Julia Chung\, PhD\, PCC\, is a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF)\, Sedona Health Coaching\, and the ADD Coach Academy. Currently\, she is the center manager and head instructor at the Body & Brain Center in Mt. Prospect\, IL. Before devoting her life to coaching and holistic healing\, she worked as a statistician in corporate America for over 10 years. Julia is passionate about sharing mindfulness with people in corporations who feel the need to reconnect with themselves to create a more purposeful work and personal life.

SUMMARY:Great Books\, Great Conversations
DESCRIPTION:Location: via Zoom\n\n\n\nMembers and guests – Free! \nThis ongoing Village discussion group meets online the first Wednesday of each month to discuss a selection of short readings from an anthology published by The Great Books Foundation. Although the group has been meeting for years\, they are very welcoming to new members! \nBeginning in December of 2023\, the group will be reading from the anthology Imperfect Ideal: Utopian and Dystopian Visions. These short\, engaging readings illustrate the best and worst of what can happen when we attempt to mold the complex communities in which we live into our vision of a perfect state. All 23 selections in this anthology challenge readers to question how society should be structured and governed\, as well as what kinds of communities are most conducive to human fulfillment\, both privately and in the civic arena. The readings are sure to spark conversations that are relevant to current events in our city\, nation and world. \n

SUMMARY:Health Hub: Seasonal Changes\, Brain & Body
DESCRIPTION:Members & guests- free! RSVP below to register for this virtual program. \nHealth hub is a program that meets monthly via Zoom to learn about and discuss important or interesting topics about health or wellbeing. \nDo you sleep better when it’s cold out? This month\, we will explore those changes and the symptoms that may accompany them. Our discussion will cover the effects on both the brain and body\, focusing on topics such as sleep\, hydration\, memory\, and more. We will also delve into strategies to manage and embrace these changes as we enter the colder winter months.
