Members & guests—free. To register, please scroll down or call the Village office at 773.248.8700.
Chicago Debates is the not-for-profit organization that runs debating leagues for Chicago Public High Schools and Middle Schools. They will explain how organized competitive debating transforms the lives of students from disadvantaged inner-city schools, developing both their academic and adult skills. Several recent graduates of the system will conduct a demo debate; they will also describe their experience in CPS schools and how debate changed the direction of their personal lives. All presenters and debaters will reserve time to answer questions and expand on their personal insights during this session. Come and learn about the skills and dreams of today’s Chicago Public School student debaters.
This program is organized by the Village Men’s Group. This month’s event is open to both women and men of the Village and their guests. Everyone is welcome to join a group of attendees at 11:00 AM for a self-hosted lunch at the Whole Foods Market (3201 N Ashland Ave), about one block from the library branch.
