In addition to exploring our own thoughts\, we talk about books\, films\, legislative developments\, organizations\, and other topics related to death and dying. All are welcome! \n\nFor August\, host Gloria St John will be sharing a special presentation on Sacred Thresholds. \nSACRED THRESHOLD: A Guide to Creating Sacred Time and Space for the Dying\n“Sacred” – worthy of awe and respect\n“Thresholds” – points of spiritual transition where time seems to stand still\nSacred Threshold is a guide to creating a sacred environment for dying whether at\nhome or in the hospital. The idea of the sacred is larger than\, and separate from\,\nreligion\, although the two ideas have been confused\, with the result that the\nsacred has been systematically excluded from ordinary culture. Most end of life\npreparation focuses on legal and medical preparation with little thought given to\nthe actual final time. Sacred Threshold shows how the weeks\, days\, and hours of\none’s death can be transformed into a more meaningful experience with\nintention and the use of ordinary objects that soothe the senses. Although this\nmay not be desired by or possible for everyone\, for those who want it\, Sacred\nThreshold makes it easy to prepare for this experience\, whether one’s own or\nanother’s.
