Docent Tour of Historic Second Presbyterian Church

Monday, December 17, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Members & guests—$3 suggested donation (to be paid on tour). To register, please scroll down or call the Village office at 773.248.8700.

A historical national landmark, enjoy a docent lead tour of one of Chicago’s architectural gems, including a close look at recently renovated Tiffany windows. Architect James Renwick designed the Gothic Revival exterior and Howard Van Doren Shaw and Frederic Clay Bartlett redesigned the interior in the Arts and Crafts taste. Friends of Historic Second Church exists to preserve, restore, and educate. Docents leading the tour are members of Friends. The tour will include a brief history of the church, and after that the group will divide into small groups, each led by a docent, where visitors would have the opportunity to see the various artifacts up close and be able to ask questions of “their” docent. Please note: the church and sanctuary are accessible, but parts of the tour are only accessible via stairs.
