Join us for a special event with local author Shawn Shiflett, who will read an excerpt from his new novel. Hey Liberal! is a story about a white boy going to a predominately Black high school in Chicago during the late 1960’s, has received rave reviews and acclaim from Booklist, The Chicago Tribune, Kirkus Review, Newcity Lit, Windy City Review, Mary Mitchell (Chicago Sun-Times), Rick Kogan (WGN Radio), and others. Following the reading, Shawn will share stories about coming of age in Lincoln Park during the 1960’s, experiences that inspired him to write the novel, which he describes as “autobiographical fiction.”
