Why would a financially-comfortable, fifty-something father of two–with a Mercedes–drive Uber late at night on the toughest streets of Chicago?
Join us for a presentation with author Pat White (pseudonym), a financial advisor and business strategist, who decided to go undercover to research how the disruptive technology of ridesharing affects commerce. Soon his business study warped into a study of humanity . . . and himself. White spent three months driving for Uber to really understand the gig economy and wrote about his experiences in his newly-released book, Buzz Ride: Driven to Disruption: Memoirs of a Uber Driver. Buzz Ride showcases the nocturnal journeys he made to spectacular homes and dive bars, covering neighborhoods from Wicker Park and Humboldt Park to the Gold Coast and everything in between.
After a presentation from author Pat White, attendees are welcome to attend a self-hosted lunch at a nearby restaurant (to be determined).
