Men’s Discussion Group: The Importance of Energy Storage in the Age of Renewable Energy

Wednesday, July 12, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Members & guests – free. Scroll down to register.

The need for long-duration storage to balance renewable output and provide extended back-up power will become increasingly important as states institute resiliency goals and implement renewable portfolio standards of 50% and above for power from renewable sources,. How will we provide uninterrupted power when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow? Some of the most attractive solutions involve generating and storing hydrogen. Dr Robert Rosenstein, the Principal Scientific Investigator for a project to develop and commercialize hydrogen storage systems, will tell us about issues of hydrogen in the universe, its properties, generation, and storage including some pioneering solutions that start with agricultural waste products. Self-hosted lunch to follow the discussion at the North & Clark Cafe.
