Men’s Discussion Group (OPEN TO ALL) – Violence in Chicago, A Calculated Solution

Wednesday, July 11, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Members & guests–free. To register, please scroll down or call the Village office at 773.248.8700.

Speaker Tom Vandenberk, chairman emeritus of UCAN, devoted 49 years of his career to improving the lives of abused, neglected and dependent children in Chicago. Suffering the loss of his 15 year-old son to gun violence, Tom turned his anguish in action. Most recently Tom has been the driving force behind the creation of the non partisan Gun Violence Prevention Political Action Committee (G-Pac). He advises social service agencies on strategies to combat gun-related deaths, works actively with mayor Rahm Emanuel on the implementation of sensible gun laws, serves on the governor’s Illinois Anti-Violence Commission and has testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary subcommittee. Tom is the subject and source of dozens of media reports that chronicle the impact of gun violence in Chicago and nationally.
