Location: Bahá’í House of Worship in Wilmette (100 Linden Ave. Wilmette)
Visit the jewel of the North Shore, the exquisite Bahá’í House of Worship in Wilmette, on Monday, October 14th. This is one of only eight Bahá’í temples in the world, and is officially designated one of the seven wonders of Illinois. The temple’s unique design features an intricate, lacy exterior surrounded by landscaped gardens and fountains. A docent will explain its history and how the complex reflects the Bahá’í faith’s teachings of harmony, equality, and peace.
The tour begins a 10 a.m. and will last about an hour and a half. We will gather at the Village Office to carpool at 9 a.m. Afterwards we will have a self-sponsored lunch at a nearby restaurant. When registering, please indicate whether you can give a ride or need a ride.
There is no charge for the tour. The complex is accessible, but there is about a five-minute walk on a paved surface between the two buildings. Address for the Bahá’i House of Worship is 100 Linden Avenue, Wilmette. The parking lot is in front of the building.
