Taking care of an ailing family member is one of the most daunting and demanding roles we will ever experience. What legal documents do you need to put in place? What health care and financial decisions are you allowed to make? What resources are available? This session will provide valuable information and advice which every family caregiver needs to know.
About our presenter:
Attorney Melissa Kallio is a partner at Village partner Dutton, Casey and Mesoloras and is one of only a few Certified Elder Law Attorneys in Illinois. She concentrates her practice in adult guardianships, Medicaid planning and applications, trust and estate administration, and general estate planning. Melissa also serves as a court appointed Guardian ad Litem in guardianship estates. Since 2018, Melissa has been named as an “Emerging Lawyer” in the field of Elder Law by the Leading Lawyers Network and has also been named as an Illinois Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the field of Elder Law. Each title is given to fewer than 3% of all attorneys licensed in each state.
Melissa is a current board member of the Illinois Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and President elect of the Veterans’ Legal Aid Society. She also serves on a multidisciplinary team for a local Adult Protective Services program.
