Skills2Care: A Program supporting persons with dementia and their caregivers

This program will be presented via Zoom and will be recorded. A link to participate will be sent to all registrants the day before the presentation, and the recording sent after the event occurs. You may register to attend live or to receive the recording later.

People with dementia can continue to live full, rich lives with the proper supports.  Skills2Care is an evidence-based occupational therapy program that benefits both family and formal caregivers and the people with dementia they care for.  Join us to learn more about how this program helps to improve the well-being and skills of caregivers, reduces behaviors such as resisting care that sometimes occur and can slow the decline in daily function for persons with dementia.  If you are feeling overwhelmed or concerned about the person with dementia you are caring for there is hope and help available.

About our presenter:

Karrie Stanley is an Occupational Therapist and founder of Vitalize Home Therapy, PLLC based in Chicago. Vitalize Home Therapy provides home-based outpatient OT services to older adults via Medicare Part B and private pay options.  Karrie is passionate about her work with older adults and sees her role as a problem-solver and partner to navigate the challenges of aging in order to remain in their home of choice with a lifestyle they find meaningful.  Her areas of expertise include fall prevention, basic home modifications, aging in place and working persons with Parkinson’s disease and dementia.  She is also certified in LSVT BIG treatment for Parkinson’s disease and the Skills2Care program supporting persons with dementia and their caregivers and families.  Karrie has been an OT for over 20 years and holds a Bachelor’s degree in OT from Xavier University and Master’s degree in Disability Studies and Social Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
