Volunteering at Nourishing Hope
Friday, April 28 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
FreeNourishing Hope, formerly known as Lakeview Pantry, is a dynamic social services organization providing food, mental wellness counseling and other social services to our Chicago neighbors in need. Village members will work as a team at their “Hub” assisting with preparation for Home Delivery and their Pop-Up Pantry, sorting and creating food packages. As volunteers, we will fulfill a vital service for our Chicago neighbors. In 2020, data indicated that 19% of all Chicago residents are undernourished; that’s almost 800,000 people and 1 out of 4 children. Please join us as we work together to help eliminate hunger in our community.
Client “shopping” takes place in a different location. While heavy lifting is not required, volunteers will be standing while working and taking breaks to sit as needed.
- Reservations required for all events.
- For virtual programs, links will be sent to registered attendees via email the day before the event.
- For in-person programs, The Village Chicago aims to match participating members by request to Village events when other members who are attending the event are able to provide transportation. When registering, please let the Village office know if you are able to drive or would like a ride to an event.
