Women’s Discussion Group – Women Rowing North: Navigating Life’s Currents and Flourishing as We Age

Mary Pipher shows most older women are deeply happy and filled with gratitude for the gifts of life. Their struggles help them grow into the authentic, empathetic, and wise people they have always wanted to be. In Women Rowing North, Pipher offers a timely examination of the cultural and developmental issues women face as they age and explores ways women can cultivate resilient responses to the challenges they face. “If we have planned carefully and packed properly, if we have good maps and guides, the journey can be transcendent.” Village member Paula Giovacchini will facilitate a discussion from key themes in the book that includes how our gratitude skills improve as we age, defining moments in our lives that shape who we are today, different kinds of happiness as well as our relationships with family and friends. Note: you are not required to read Women Rowing North to enjoy this program.
The Women’s Discussion Group typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month. It is open to women of the Village and their female guests. This month’s program is hosted in the home of Village member Nancy Reiffel, and there are a few stairs with a railing at this residence’s entry; exact location details will be shared with attendees who register in advance.
