Reading the Rainbow is a bi-monthly book discussion group featuring a lively conversation of LGBTQ+ texts. People of all identities, including allies, are welcome!
For December, the group will be reading “The Safekeep” by Yael van der Wouden. Winner of the 2025 Lambda Literary Award amongst numerous other accolades, “The Safekeep” is set in the Dutch countryside of 1961, where Isabel’s quiet life is turned upside down by the arrival of her brother Luis and his new girlfriend, Eva. Exploring themes of cultural memory, trauma, and facing the truth of history, “The Safekeep” is a powerful story of obsession, suspicion, and desire.
