Let’s cool off from the summer heat with this 1996 black comedy crime drama from the Coen brothers. Many critics consider this their best film. Do you agree? Frances McDormand received her first Oscar playing a very pregnant police officer investigating several murders. Her investigation leads her to William Macy (also nominated), a very nervous manager of a car dealership. Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare play the “funny looking” and eerily quiet thugs Macy’s character hired. This was Ebert & Siskel’s #1 film for 1996.
