This week’s film is Seed of the Sacred Fig (2024): Fascinating film shot in secret in Iran. It Tells the story of Iman, an investigating judge in Tehran, who grapples with paranoia as nationwide political protests due to the death of a young woman intensify. The gun he gave his wife for protection mysteriously disappears, making him distrust his wife and daughters. 2 hr, 47min. R.T. score 97%. Nominated for an Oscar last year for best foreign film. After getting nominated at Cannes, its filmmaker and several actors fled Iran.
