If you haven’t seen it, now’s the time. A phenomenon when it came out in 1950. Eve Harrington (Anne Baxter) is more than just an adoring fan of Margot Channing (Bette Davis) and a budding actress. Much more. When Eve gets invited backstage to meet Margot and her entourage, she gets invited to stay with Margot … and then the fun begins. Arguably the best backstage drama, it recently ranked high on the American Film Inst’s top 100 films. Nominated for a record 14 Academy Awards, it won for best picture, best director, best screenplay, best costume, and best supporting actor for George Sanders. It’s the only film with 4 actresses nominated for oscars. If you’ve seen it before, see if it holds up, or just join the discussion.
