Death Cafe has evolved! Crossing the Bridge is a safe space to share personal feelings about death as we support and learn from each other. In addition to exploring our own thoughts, we talk about books, films, legislative developments, organizations, and other topics related to death and dying. All are welcome
Ensure that your environmental values are honored even at the very end of life. Green burial is a way of caring for the dead that allow a body to decompose naturally. While natural burial was practiced for thousands of years before the advent of the modern funeral industry, it has been overshadowed by the costly and environmentally damaging practices of embalming and the use of metal caskets, grave vaults, and liners as well as the toxicity of cremation. If you want to learn more about ecological ways to handle remains and Chicago resources where such options are possible, join us for the July meeting.
