Saturday Afternoon at the Movies

Saturday, July 4 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Members & guests–free

Every Saturday afternoon, join fellow film aficionados of the Village for an in-depth organic discussion of films new and old. Watch the selected film any time–or enjoy the discussion and be persuaded to view it after!

Lawrence of Arabia: 1962, 3hr 40min, Free on Netflix, $4 Amazon & others
The film starts in 1933 with the death of British Lieutenant T.E. Lawrence (Peter O’Toole) and then tells, in a most beautiful epic, his military life and why he is so honored. Due to his knowledge of its local Bedouin tribes, Lawrence iwa sent to Arabia to find Prince Faisal (Alec Guinness) and to serve as a liaison between the Arabs and the British in their fight against the Turks who have controlled the region for centuries. With the aid of native Sharif Ali (Omar Sharif), Lawrence defies the orders of his superior officer and strikes out on a daring camel journey across the desert to attack a well-guarded Turkish port. If you think it’s hot this week in this country, wait till you get to the Arabian Desert (just south of the Strait of Hormuz).
