Curious Village
Join this in-person group for a lively discussion and presentation each month hosted by Belmont Village on Fullerton in Lincoln Park, all are welcome!
It’s construction season, and developments large and small are reshaping Chicago’s urban landscape. Among the most notable is Foundry Park, a major mixed-use neighborhood planned by JDL Development in partnership with Kayne Anderson Real Estate.
Foundry Park will transform 31 acres of vacant former industrial land along the Chicago River—the former site of the A. Finkl & Sons steel mill—into a new riverfront community. Current plans include approximately 3,200 single- and multifamily residences, 435,000 square feet of retail space, and 100,000 square feet of office space. The neighborhood is also envisioned with restaurants, walking trails, green open spaces, and a publicly accessible riverwalk.
Join Curious Village for a conversation with a representative from JDL about the vision for Foundry Park and the process of undertaking a development of this scale. How does a project like Foundry Park get off the ground? What are the most significant bottlenecks? What can the city do to help move major developments forward? How does JDL approach acquiring a large site and creating a plan for its future?
These questions and more will be discussed at the next Curious Village meeting on Wednesday, August 12.
