Curious Village
Join this in-person group for a lively discussion and presentation each month hosted by Belmont Village on Fullerton in Lincoln Park, all are welcome!
It’s construction season, and all over the city, developments large and small are shaping our urban landscape. One of the most notable among these is Foundry Park, a 31-acre riverfront site in west Lincoln Park, and North Union, an 8-acre masterplan for 12 buildings in downtown Chicago, between Chestnut, Oak, Franklin, and Wells. This will include 2,656 units and 3.5 million square feet across 12 buildings, 3 adaptive-reuse projects, 1 timber loft, and 8 high-rise residential projects. Join Curious Village to learn about Foundry Park and other large scale developments in Chicago with a speaker from JDL Construction. Why does it take so long for a project like Foundry Park to get off the ground? What are the bottlenecks? What can the city do to speed things up? How do they decide to buy a large amount of land, and then decide what to do with it? These questions and more will be discussed at the next Curious Village meeting on Wednesday, August 12.
