Darcy brings a wealth of experience to the Village, including leadership roles at public and private universities, libraries, medical, technology, non-profit organizations and media companies. She is active in Chicago’s corporate and civic communities and serves on the boards of Ingenuity Inc., The Guild of the Chicago History Museum, The Kalo Foundation, and the Chicago Innovation Advisory Board. Darcy is a member of the Economic Club, Executives Club, and a variety of cultural and business organizations. She is an avid history buff and author who published Hand Wrought, an illustrated history of jewelry and metalwork from the Chicago Arts and Crafts Movement.

Tom is the Vice President & Branch Manager at Wintrust Bank – Old Town. He has been with Wintrust for about eight years and previously worked at JPMorgan Chase for 15 years. Originally, he is from a small town in Iowa–Dyersville, “Home of the Field of Dreams.” Tom completed his BA at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. He lived in Chicago for about 20 years and currently resides in Evanston. He is an involved member of the LGBT Chamber of Commerce Illinois and Ambassador for the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce. Callie began as a volunteer for the Chicago Hyde Park Village in 2020 and has previously worked as an educator and writer. As both a team member and volunteer, she is committed to building more equitable communities through developing intergenerational networks of connection and support. Callie received her BA in English from The University of Washington and has a Master’s in Literature from Trinity College Dublin. An avid reader and writer, Callie is passionate about all things literary and also enjoys the visual arts, cycling, and travel.

Carol earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University, Chicago. Carol was an English teacher in the Chicago Public Schools and a social worker in the Mundelein Public Schools. She has been a board member of Thresholds; Personal Pac; The Medical Research Institute Council; The American Jewish Committee; and she was president of the Joint Action Committee for Political Affairs. Currently she serves on the foundation board of The Chicago High School for the Arts. As an actor Carol has performed in theater, film and commercials. She has been involved with the Village since 2014. She currently serves on the Life 3.0 Committee and organizes exciting activities for the “Adventurer’s Club.”

A founding Village member, Laurel started volunteering for the Village shortly before it opened in June 2009 and became a part time staff member in 2010. She worked in marketing for nearly 40 years, in advertising agencies and as a sole practitioner consultant. In her current role, she helps shape strategy, planning and communications for most major Village initiatives. Her proudest accomplishment was founding Bottomless Closet in 1991, the first nonprofit free business apparel resource for women transitioning from assistance to work.

Lois has been involved with the Village since its inception in 2008. Before rejoining the Board in 2019, she served two terms and was instrumental in developing the Program Committee. She enjoys entertaining in her home with husband Rick, including the Annual Barbecue. During her career, Lois held management positions at Jays Potato Chips, Procter & Gamble, and International Paper Company. She now enjoys travel, theater, music, food, meditation, gardening, reading, and movies

Tamara has over a decade of experience in DEIB strategy (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging), corporate social responsibility, community engagement, and program development. Holding a DEI certification from Northwestern University’s Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, Tamara’s mission is to introduce modern approaches for creating community and belonging. She actively volunteers for My Block, My Hood My City; Minorities in Cybersecurity; Healthy Hood; Youth Services of Glenview; and the Moran Center. In her leisure time, she indulges her love for travel, camping, forest bathing, Ravinia, and exploring diverse cuisines as a dedicated foodie.

When Betty retired from a long clinical and administrative career as a Social Worker at Jewish Child and Family Services the Village was just beginning and so she joined. She remains an active volunteer and member. Since 2009 she has supervised more than 35 Village Interns from Loyola’s School of Social Work. She also enjoys travel, when sensible, spending time reading, doing Sudoko puzzles and is into Folk Music and the Blues.

Vamse Kumar was introduced to The Village Chicago through Board Lead, a national organization that selected the Village through a rigorous competition to participate in their board diversity program. Vamse Kumar currently manages a team of Data Scientists and Engineers as a part of Emerging Tech – an AI team at world-renowned consulting firm PwC (formerly PriceWaterhouse Coopers). He has built several AI enabled wellness tools, including an advanced Retirement Planning Simulator which has become a part of the Financial Wellness program at PwC and is also used by many major banks. Vamse Kumar has a master’s degree from W.P Carey School of Business (ASU) where he was also a Student Ambassador. Vamse Kumar lives in Lincoln Park with his wife Sivamalini.

Jan practiced as a Psychiatric Social Worker, trained at Charlie Trotter’s as a dessert chef, and was a competitive horseback rider on the American Saddlebred Horse circuit. She practiced at the University of Michigan Children’s Psychiatric Hospital and Psychiatric Clinic, and in private practice specializing in intensive psychoanalytic psychotherapy. She has been a board member of Achievement Rewards for College Scientists and a volunteer for Y-Me. Jan is a graduate of the University of Michigan (MSW).
