Crossing the Bridge

Wednesday, June 19 @ 11:00 am

Free
Location: via Zoom
Members & guests: free.

Death Cafe has evolved! Crossing the Bridge is a safe space to share personal feelings about death as we support and learn from each other. In addition to exploring our own thoughts, we talk about books, films, legislative developments, organizations, and other topics related to death and dying. All are welcome

In our June meeting, we will discuss the topic of assisted dying. This option is sometimes chosen by people when faced with terminal, painful conditions. To become more acquainted with the subject, consider learning about the topic using the resources below.

Three organizations involved with end of life options

Compassion and Choices: www.compassionandchoices.org

Their vision is for a society that …accepts the inevitability of death, embraces expanded options … and empowers everyone to choose end-of-life care that reflects their values, priorities and beliefs.

Final Exit Network: https://finalexitnetwork.org/

Their mission is to educate qualified individuals in practical, peaceful ways to end their lives, and more…

Final Options Illinois: https://finaloptionsillinois.org/

Dedicated to make aid in dying fully legal and part of accepted medical practice in Illinois.

A recommended Book: The Day I Die by Anita Hannig

“An intimate investigation of assisted dying in America”
