The Village is partnering up with the Fourth Presbyterian Church Center for Life and Learning for their matters of health series. As the weather gets warmer, we often think about taking time away from our routines to go on a vacation or to explore new areas. In tandem with allowing us to feel refreshed and enhance our worldview, traveling can be a powerful way to enhance our brain health. Please join us for this presentation where we will discuss the ways that travel can impact our cognition, explore options when travel is a bit more difficult to tap into, and hear from others about their travel stories and journeys. We will also chat about how the advances in technology have taken some of the work away from our minds during travel, and ways we can really push ourselves for the best benefit.
About the presenter: Brooke is a social service and public health professional who has obtained undergraduate degrees in psychology and speech pathology as well as a graduate degree in public health. She recently became a certified dementia practitioner (CDP) through the NCCDP. Brooke started her career in the intellectual disabilities field and began working with older adults within a senior living community, from there moving into legal guardianship and program management. Most recently, Brooke has been working with the Alzheimer’s Association as part of a lifestyle intervention research study aiming to protect brain health in older adults. She is looking forward to finding ways to apply her experience to help establish better brain health and to navigate cognitive changes.
