“Butterfly, Butterfly” (2022) is a personal journey of remembrance through 30 years of filming children all over the world as it pertains to child labor. The film is a measure of gains made in eliminating child labor. The film had its world premiere at The United Nations Association Film Festival at the end of October 2022. It then was shown at The International Children’s Human Rights Film Festival in Turkey, and in December 2022 at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival. Morris films stories about children on every continent and across the United States and observes the changes that have occurred for better or worse in children’s human rights. “Butterfly, Butterfly” shows footage that hasn’t been seen by the public before and is a measure of the gains made through advocacy – a snapshot of how we treat children as a society and a look at the future. It is a personal salute to the beauty and resilience of children. Morris is the editorial director of Media Voices for Children, a documentary filmmaker lecturer, and advocate for children’s human rights.
