Let’s explore the new Old Post Office Building, whose early 20th-century design has been adaptively renovated into a beautiful, modern Class A Office Building.
The 2.5 million-square-foot building, originally completed in 1921 and expanded in 1932, recently went through a monumental renovation and now serves as a modern multi-use event and office space that meets today’s need for large, light-filled work spaces. We will see how historic artifacts and building details have been creatively incorporated into the Old Post Office’s renovation.
Leveraging the building’s vast roof area (nearly six acres) as an asset, The Meadow at the Old Chicago Post Office is the nation’s largest private rooftop garden offering a wide variety of active and passive amenities enabling the rooftop to become a park unto itself.
A Chicago Architecture Center docent will be our guide, with a self-hosted lunch in the building’s On Center food hall to follow our tour. Space is limited, so register now!
Duration: 1.5 hours. The tour requires slightly less than a mile of walking and requires use of an escalator or elevator.
If you plan to drive and can offer rides, please call the Village office.
